Con artist @ work

ALL RETAIL SHOPS BE WARNED!!

As 9/9/2010 was the eve of Hari Raya, our boss decide to give out the sales commission to enable the staffs to buy raya goodies.

So all the staffs were busy making arrangements to meet up with their family members to do some last minute raya shopping. Despite all the excitement the staffs continue with their chores of adding stocks colours and sizes.

While the rest of the staffs are busy doing so, in came an indian lady  ("IL") posing as a customer looking for 10 - 12pcs jubahs for a fashion show that she is organising for her insurance company. She also claimed  to be pregnant. She spent nearly 2 hours in the shop and asked one of our staff ("A") to try on all 10pcs of the jubah size S for her to see.

"A" just put on the top but was asked to try the whole set together with pants.  So "A" wore the jubah pants on top of her own jeans but "IL" asked "A" to take off her jeans  and wear the pants that came with the jubah as "IL" want to see how the whole set would look like.

It was in doing so that "A" exposed her personal belongings to danger as little did we know "A" kept her handphone, her money and just received commission in the jeans pockets.

As a precaution "A" did asked another staff ("B") to look after her jeans while "A" was sent around the shop looking for matching tudung and new designs to show to "IL".

"IL" was very patient waiting for her opportunity. She then ask "B" to go look for a matching tudung. "B" thought it was safe when she saw "A" coming back but  in B's absence "A" was then asked to go inside the fitting room to try out another design.

This was the time for "IL" to strike. IL put the jeans in her big bag and just walked out of the shop totally unnoticed by all the staff in the shop.

So when "A" came out of the fitting room, she was petrified that "IL" was not there and mortified when her jeans was also gone. What happened after that was the stuff of movies and dramas as "A" franctically ran up and down back and front of the shop looking for "IL".  She then collapsed on the floor and scream that "itu keling tipu!! Tipu duit saya".

It was heart wrenching to see her disappointment as she cried, screamed, try to hurt herself and kept mumbling and apologising to her mom for losing the money. She did have a high hopes of spending her hard earned money on her family members tonight.

So anytime you see someone that resembles the indian lady in the photo or video, please contact the police or let us know (03-26949055) as what she did to "A" is totally unforgivable since the next day is Hari Raya.

If she had stolen the company's money, at least the company can claim insurance. To steal a staff's hard earned money ("A" been working well past midnight everyday during the fasting month) is too inhumane and she must be stopped.

Last Day of Fasting... street of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman

9 September 2010 (12:12am) Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur

These photos and video captured the late night / early morning scene of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman where the main roads were closed to traffic and all the night peddlers began their raya "lelong" or "harga runtuh" by the roadside.

We were so caught up by the sheer number of people on the street that we find it hard to believe that it's already past midnight. Guess everyone were very happy that it will be raya soon.

In fact our staffs when they break fast with KFC that day everyone were in high spirits when they pose for the camera as they had successfully fulfilled their fasting and can soon balik kampung to celebrate raya!

On the other hand, some of the temporary staffs were quite sad after breaking fast  as they say goodbye and farewells to the rest. Well, we hope to see them again next year and thank everyone for their hardwork in serving the customers.

Also to all our muslimah friends and customers, we wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin. May you have a safe and happy raya with families and friends.

Nabil in the house...

6th September 2010 - Nabil was in Turkuaz, Jalan TAR outlet shopping with his parents.

Everyone in the shop was very very surprised to see him but he was very nonchalant hence we were bold enough to ask him to pose for our camera. And mind you it was not just one shot but many many shots of him - alone and together with our staffs. We even asked him to pose while holding our Turkuaz bag, which he willing obliged to. He is so down-to-earth and super friendly with all the attention.

He really brought our business to a standstill cos everyone was busy reaching for their mobile phones to take pictures with him. He definitely succeeded in making our day special and was rightly named "Raja Lawak" or Kind of Comedy because of his candid poses and huge friendly smile.

We hope to see him again soon and this time, we will use a better camera... Sigh... blame all the excitement for this last perfect pose but shaky n fuzzy shot :(

It's FUN to give...

Every year during Ramadhan, founder of Turkuaz Sdn Bhd, Mr Gurcan Selekoglu will give away food for all to break fast with as a show of gratitude during this holy month.

For this year 2010, he decided to do things differently by teaming up with his good friends Mr Hikmet Atak, Mr Turgay Gundogdu and Mr Ahmet Kundakci in preparing chicken kebab right in front of Turkuaz @ Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

Despite the light rain, this did not at all deter the passersby from queueing in the drizzle for the food.

We were especially delighted by the expressions of the people waiting in anticipation, fuelled by the wonderful aroma from the freshly cooked kebab.

We hope to cater to a big group but since this is the first time we are doing it "live" we only prepared 2 kebab stands and there is a limit on the quantity of meat that can be cooked each time.

We sincerely hope that all who had the opportunity to taste this food will give thanks to God for the wonderful life and food that we can enjoy! To those whose turn came but the food ran out, we apologise from the bottom of our hearts and we hope you will get the opportunity to try authentic turkish kebab next time as we plan to do this many many times again in the future.

As after all, Mr Gurcan is a firm believer that he was blessed to be a blessing to others.
