KFC Egg Tarts

Had dinner in KFC, KLCC recently and was tempted by the picture of the Blueberry Cheese Egg Tart. At RM1.90 each, heck why not give it a try!

VERDICT:-
The actual product is really short.. I meant caved in.. but taste wise.. not bad considering the pastry is quite fluffy.

But if you expect a tart that looks like the picture, well you need a reality check =D

Asiathique Riverfront Night Market

A funny thing happened during my trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

We were happily walking around this new night market venue called Asiathique (for how to get to Asiathique, jump right to the bottom half).

We were happily exploring Asiathique especially since it's quite big with a few buildings which they numbered as  "Warehouse 1", "Warehouse 2" and so on.

Then we came to the eateries or restaurants section when we saw this guy and girl standing about 10 feet across each other, motionless.. looking at each other.

We were stumped.. like.. what is happening?? Is he proposing to the girl or something cos they were like exactly across each other, not moving and standing still.

But when we look around us, we noticed the same thing with everyone around us.. Then only we noticed the place was playing a song.. Thailand's national anthem!

Wow!! Such respect for the national anthem! Not sure what will happen in Kuala Lumpur if the shopping malls like Sogo played Negaraku (the name of Malaysia's national anthem), would anyone notice and show respect.

Kudos to the Thai government for instilling love for all things Thai!

ASIATHIQUE Riverfront
Getting there:-
You can take a cab there but the best experience is by FREE shuttle boat just adjacent to Taksin skytrain (BTS) station.

Note:-
1) The place is only open from 5pm so the boat only starts about 430pm. We were there early so we killed time at a shopping mall nearby Taksin BTS station. The boat ride takes about 30minutes.

2) Go there early as there can be quite a long queue for the boat ride from Taksin station at night.

3) A good itinerary is to go Asiatique, then take the shuttle boat from Asiathique to Taksin boat station, from there change to another boat to Chinatown.

The boat ride from Taksin to Chinatown station by boat costs 20Baht per person. It takes about 3- 4 stops to reach. Ask around for help on when to alight.

From the Chinatown boat station, take a tuk tuk to Chinatown to eat at the famous T n K seafood (their staffs wear green shirts).

I tried to walk from the boat station to T n K - it's too far and felt dangerous since it was already nightime. Plus there are plenty of tuk tuk waiting at the boat station and they are quite cheap.. so save your energy and take tuk tuk.

The food at T n K is quite good but definitely cheaper than KL and the plus points are the prices are already written in the menu, so you wont be overcharged later.

We had a steamed fish, seafood tomyam, grilled prawns, kangkung vegetables, rice and coke for 700 Baht. What a feast!

Tips on choosing Bridal Bouquets

Just a simple tip..

Below is photo of the bouquet which I chose from a flower shop in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. Note it's RM100.

And this is what I get!! First and foremost it's looks completely different. So managed to reduce it to RM80.

Notice the withering flower on bottom left
Total paid for the bouquet - RM80

Secondly the pink casablanca lily flowers were withering... Cause of it? The stalks were too short! Turned out the stalks were too short for all of them.

So halfway through my wedding registration, I plucked out ALL the lilies and left with a rose bouquet :(

Moral of the story? Next time you want to choose a bouquet, DO NOT choose with one with casablanca lily cos naturally florist would want to maximize their profits so they will use all the blooms in one main stalk, meaning you'll end up with short stalks for each bloom which will wither in matter of hours since the cut stalks are too short and unable to get any water.

Sigh.. had it been a good and honest florist, they would have pack some cotton and water for each short stalks.. but this was not done in my case.. So sad.. :(

So brides-to-be out there.. Be smart and choose your bouquet and types of flowers wisely!!

Scholl Party Feet - Soft Touch vs Ultra Slim

I had this killer heel at home which I planned to wear for my wedding. Since I'll be up on my feet for long hours, I best prepare some soft cushioning for it.

Tried two of Scholl's products => Party Feet Soft Touch and Ultra Slim

Supposedly only for closed shoes and boots
but front opened shoes are ok EXCEPT it's too slippery :(

Helped to remove the pain but good only for
few hours on killer heels.
Would definitely work longer on normal heels!

VERDICT:-

1) Ultra Slim gel is nice and not slippery. Soft Touch is way to soft and slippery.

Trust me - your feet will inadvertently slip down to the front, adding huge pressure to your feet and crushing all your poor toes at the same time.

Soft Touch only works if it's flat shoes.. but then who would want sole cushioning for flats??

2) Soft Touch is more difficult to use as there's no direction on the cushion itself - whether it's for the left or right side.. You have to use your brain and try to understand the english direction:-

"Peel protective film off cushion. Insert cushion into front of shoe sticky side down with the pointed end facing the heel"

Err... come again??

3) Ultra Slim is slightly cheaper than Soft Touch

SO there you have it... Need I say more? Ultra Slim wins hand down!!
