The event was to be officiated by our prime minister Najib Tun Razak. The event was slated to start at 230pm and amazingly our prime minister was quite punctual and arrived at around 245pm.
We managed to take photos of our prime minister with Turkuaz founder Mr Gurcan Selekoglu as he toured the facilities of Karangkraf. In the picture was also the CEO of Karangkraf Encik Hussamuddin bin Hj. Yaacub.
At the end of the tour, the Prime Minister was then invited to give his speech followed by Karangkraf CEO. He mentioned the achievements of Sinar Harian, the only independently financed and politically-neutral malay newspaper in Malaysia having successfully gone nationwide today.
The thing that impressed me the most was that they took to opportunity to honour young local malaysian writers whose books have been successly published and translated into other languages.
In cultivating a nation of readers, I think Kumpulan Karangkraf have been in the forefront leading the way especially in these few years as their motto reads, "We lead, You read".
