Fashion Shoot for Harian Metro in NST
Completed the shoot for Harian Metro. Since it's a studio shoot, the environment is more conducive so we manage to finish the shoot in less than 2 1/2 hours for 8 baju... That's a very good record considering we only have one model and not only need to change clothes, we need to re-style the tudung for every baju.
The model is so pretty and many commented that she looked like a mannequin. And that's our make up artist Dini.
We also received many positive feedbacks and enquiries on the clothes. The collection are all imported robes from Jordan and limited edition. So have to grab it when you see it cos it's only 1 pc per size.
At the end of the shoot, we manage to squeeze in a shoot of pantsuit for our archive, since the model is ready and all made-up.
The finished product... This appeared in Metro Ahad on 4 May 2010.

Things which we can learn from plants
There once was a tree in front our Turkuaz outlet in KL. We sometimes find it a nuisance cos it kind of blocked our shop facade. It's not much of a shelter from the rain nor sun but it's just there. But for 3 years we put up with it cos it's DBKL's plant and over time, we dont really notice it.
Then recently during a heavy thunderstorm and rain, the tree just toppled over. It fell on the road at around 7pm.
Buses still insist on using the bus lane because of the jam but when they drive pass, part of the tree will scratch their side mirrors and left side.
By the next day, DBKL have removed the tree and all that left was just the stump and loads of saw dusts/ flakes and we thought that was the end of this tree.
But lo and behold, after about 2 weeks, we were so amazed to find buds and leaves growing out of the stump! It just show you just cant keep a good tree down. We have much to learn from this tree.
Note from the picture a kind person has even put a brick to support this tree/stump. How thoughtful!
So if you happen to come to Jalan TAR you will see that most of the trees along the road are gone except for this "growing" stump.
BTW this is the latest picture (dated 10th May 2010) of this growing plant.
Photo taken on 25 June 2010 (anniversary of MJ... we miss you....) DBKL removed the stump and replaced with this very dry and sad-looking tree....

Sanggul Tinggi - Is it nice?
A question that begs to be answered is whether a bun tied very high on the head (sanggul tinggi) - fashion wise is it nice or plain ugly. Perhaps it's already in a topic in some forum.
This question cropped up cos Kumpulan Karangkraf whom Turkuaz is advertising in did a recent fashion shoot for us and the results came back with both models sporting a very big and high bun on the head. So just wondering what is the general sentiment on this issue. Whether it is acceptable or will it look like a deformed head.
One thing for sure is it's attention grabbing and very popular among the arabic women. So we'll just have to wait and see if this trend catch on in Malaysia and Singapore in a big way cos we do know a few retailers selling these fake add-ons... (why not since there are so many add-ons nowadays... Mozilla has tons of add-ons gadgets and gizmos... why not one for your head).
One of our staff did try on one before but her sister commented that it looked like a tumour or growth on the head. The only way to justify it's popularity now was that she probably did not attach it correctly.
Well to you girls or women out there, do give your comments on this subject.
It may look good on models but are you willing to try and put in on your head and go to work 8 hours with it (I know I already sound skeptical, but hey we are not going to stand in the way of fashion if it looks good, that's all that matters!)
Fashion Shoot
We'll be having a fashion shoot for Harian Metro fashion spread tomorrow.
The theme is middle east muslimah ladies fashion. Hopefully the photos will turn out ok. Will post the photos of it later.
Previously had a few fashion shoot and the most memorable is the one was with Vanida Imran... She's such a good sport. Really nice and easy going person. No airs about her. She has since been a real good friend and even personally gave to us Raya cards that year.
During the shoot, she was so professional and can come up with so many different poses in seconds. This is one lady who knows her face and body. It was amazing how she can tilt her face, create different smiles, and transition smoothly from one angle to another while moving her hands and legs to catch the flashlight. Every photo was perfect! So it was difficult to choose our favourite.
So it is no wonder that her star is shining brighter than ever and we wish her all the best in all her undertakings.

Turkuaz 1st blog! Yeah!
We were wondering what language should be used for this blog... either malay or english. So we decided to do in english and mix it with malay as and when necessary.
For those new to Turkuaz, we just like to introduce you to our fashion. We cater 100% to muslimah fashion. Whenever we talk about muslimah fashion, immediately the image of baju kurung comes to mind but hey why limit yourself to one kind of fashion.
Hence we advocate modern but modest dressing to working executives who can wear our fashion to work and at the same time look "in" and appropriate.
So many of our designs are so-called "copied" from the comtemporary fashion of ZARA, MNG etc but modified so as not to be too revealing. So if the neckline is too low, we try to make it higher but if the outcome is not satisfactory we make it 2 layer. Exhibit A is a perfect example of a modified low neckline.
Also most of our designs comes with full lining (ie including the sleeves) you cant even catch the shadow of any silhouette. We are that serious in staying modest.
There are also constant stock coming in from overseas but these are mostly in the form of robes from Turkey, Iran, Jordan and Arab. Very very appropriate for the discerning customers requiring more elaborate wear for functions.
Turkuaz is also a one-stop centre for all scarves / shawls/ anak tudung etc of any kind and designs (locally or imported ones) at reasonable prices.
Since it's muslimah fashion, we also have special muslimah swimwear, prayer robes and prayer rugs on sale.
So if you have the time, do drop by at any of our 4 outlets in:-
- No. 217 Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman 50100 KL (opposite Sogo KL)
- Gulyn @ Alamanda Putrajaya (opposite Bonia)
- SACC Mall, Shah Alam (beside Body Shop)
- Plaza Angsana, Johor Bahru (beside Badan bookstore)
While you are at it, you can also pay RM15 and become our member. In doing so, you will on the spot enjoy 10% discount off all products and special member prices (where applicable).
If you are a CIMB credit cardholder, you can enjoy the same privileges as a member but all purchases must be made with CIMB card and this offer with CIMB is valid until 31 December 2010.
And as member, for every purchase of RM150, you will receive a RM20 voucher in return (valid for next purchase). These are fantastic bargains which we have arranged for our members.
Our staffs are also trained to assist you in wearing the latest fashion in scarves as the trend is constantly evolving and we are more than happy to help you stay current and relevant (favorite catch phrase of American Idol judges).
