Having hosted 4 foreign friends on different occasions before, it never fail to amaze me how all of them are taken in by our "Kaya" - our local version of jam or butter spread.
In fact they will buy it back by the cans - which I find totally amusing.
Hehe.. I even took photos of the stuffs one french couple bought.
And there are antiques which they bought from Melaka.
Remember these China made sewing machines selling for RM10 last time? The french were mesmerized by this gadget. Note the bottle of rose syrup at the bottom.
Another favourite item is our "minyak kapak". During my turkish boss recent trip back to Turkey, he bought dozens as they were "orders" from friends and relatives who find our local ointment really useful for headache etc.
So I guess everywhere you travel, just as you are fascinated by the stuffs sold abroad, visitors to Malaysia may well find our normal everyday-use-items interesting and worth sharing in their home country.
